Kirsty Dixon's work plays on transformations; utilising the illusionary effect of light, shadow and darkness, to make the mundane ethereal and to create a sense of physicality for the intangible and transient. Her latest works explore the use of light and mirrors, with a custom sandblasting and colouring technique, to develop complex infinity designs. The infinity mirrors transform the translucent light into three-dimensional objects, which alter and diverge as you move around them, mimicking naturally occurring light patterns and effects seen in nature.
Kirsty Dixon's work has been exhibited internationally, at galleries such as the V&A, An Lanntair, Elevator Gallery, Canal Gallery and Portico Gallery. From 2011-2014 Kirsty Dixon worked as Director of Hackney WickED CIC, running one of London's biggest annual art festivals. Current projects include Parallel Relay, a site-specific sound and light collaboration with artist Esther Ainsworth, and Dark Space, an organisation specialising in artworks that don't conform to the white-wall bias of typical gallery spaces.
