Biography
Robert Barnes studied painting and printmaking at Hull College of Art and London University. He later taught printing, etching, linocuts, and screenprinting at Keswick Hall College in Norfolk. Barnes eventually moved to Norwich, where he continued to teach at the University of East Anglia until 2006. His work is heavily inspired by the East Anglian countryside and coastlines, often capturing the region's sweeping landscapes and vast skies.

Barnes’ preferred medium, linocuts, allows for strong effects of light and color, creating bold compositions that highlight the contrast between land and sky. His work is marked by a distinctive sense of rhythm and movement, with a refined balance between abstraction and realism. Over the years, his art has been exhibited regularly in London and other major cities, and many of his pieces are held in both private and public collections worldwide. With his unique approach to landscape art, Barnes has made a lasting impression on the British printmaking scene, leaving behind a legacy of evocative and atmospheric works.
