Lorna Massie is a distinguished Hudson Valley printmaker specialising in silk screen printing. Massie's work is celebrated for its use of solid colors and simplified shapes, capturing favorite views and memories with fresh color and clean abstraction. Originally from Wisconsin, Massie pursued her education at Smith College and the University of California at Berkeley, studying figure drawing with Marshall Glazier in New York City. After relocating to Kripplebush, she expanded her skills in colour with studies in oil painting under Robert Angeloch and pastels with Albert Handell. The Women’s Studio Workshop of Rosendale has also played a significant role in her development as a printmaker.
Her prints have earned acclaim through awards from institutions such as Audubon Artists, the Print Club of Albany, the Salmagundi Club, Allied Artists of America, and Knickerbocker Artists.
